DropBox
Highly recommended file sharing/syncing utility with 2 GB of free storage space. The program works together with you normal windows explorer (stifinder) - the system creates a Dropbox folder in My Documents (unless you move it elsewhere) and you can dump and drag and drop files and folders as you are used to.
In addition, you can
- access all your files in the Dropbox folder from a web page on any computer.
- share folders with other users, and as such easily work in the same files etc. If two people work in the same document at the same time, the system will save two different files and notify you about the problem.
- place files in the "public" folder and make them available on th internet. You simply right-click on the file and retrieve the web-link to the file. Free server space!

Iphone users: Create a shortcut on your desktop to: http://www.getdropbox.com/iphone/#home. Your phone will remember your username/password after first time typing, and this link will give you direct access to all your files. If you additionally install the DocsToGo app from AppStore, you willbe able to copy paste your docs into word, excell or powerpoint and continue to work with them on your Iphone.

Another alternative to DropBox, which also looks very promising. The free version is also just 2 GB of storage, but it can (presumably) be shared by several people at a time.

Live Mesh
Yet another alternative, this time from Microsoft. It looks very much like a beta product right now, but it might be worth to check it out. It looks like it's free and it uses the Windows Live account that everybody with a hotmail address already has + it seems like you get approx. 5.6 GB's of storage space.

Google Docs
Description
Google Docs is an online version of something that looks very much like the Microsoft Office programs - Word, Excel, Powerpoint plus some extra goodies. When you work in Google Docs you can share your document, spread sheets, etc. with other users at other locations. In fact, you can work in the same documents at the same time. You are able to browse back through all versions of the document in order to undo changes.

Data backup
When you work in Google Doc (as opposed to MicroSoft Word) you files are all stored on a Google Server and not on you local computer, However, if you install Google Gears, then the program will constantly create a backup of your online files on you local computer. If some of your collaboration partners change one of the shared files, these changes will automatically be saved on to your local computer as soon as your computer is online.

Forms - what is that?
A Google Form allows you to collect data from a range of people - It is a tool for building your own questionnaire or data-input system. You use it like this:
1. Choose New, Choose Form
2. Type in the questions you would like people to answer, and choose the kind of reply you want (e.g. some text description, of a multiple choice box etc.)
3. Send the form to a group of people (type in their e-mail addresses)
4. Open your Google docs main page, and click the form as you see it there - you will see an excell sheet where all the answers that people provide are organised.

Current system problems
The system is still a Beta version, an many things are a bit unstable. The most important problems include;
- When working in a word document more people at a time, the system might be unstable, however, Excel seems to work very well.
- When up- and downloading Word documents, the formatting become strange. It is recommended to use the word for common text-writing, and then download the documents to your computer before you apply formatting (font-sizes, colors etc.)
